How to Make Spanish Rice- Grandma’s Secret Recipe

Many of you have been asking for the rice recipe we use at the restaurant. We can’t give that one out…  But we will let you in on another secret family recipe for spanish rice that we use at home: Grandma’s One Cup Spanish Rice!

Here is what you will need:

1 cup rice

2 tablespoons canola oil

1 large garlic clove (minced)

1/2 small onion (diced)

2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup tomato sauce

salt to taste

 

Here is how to cook it:

Step 1: In a sauce pan, brown the rice in the oil

Step 2: Add onions and garlic, saute. Meanwhile, in a separate pan heat chicken broth

Step 3: Add heated chicken broth to the browned rice, onion, and garlic mixture

Step 4: Add tomato sauce, and salt to your liking.

Step 5: Bring to a boil

Step 6: Drop heat to low, let simmer, cover, and cook till liquid is gone. DO NOT STIR!

Step 7: After the liquid is gone, take off heat and let sit for 5 minutes.

The trick to making great rice is…  Do Not to stir it after bringing it to a boil! Stirring your rice will break it up making it a mushy mess.
